Brad Lavigne

Named one of the Hill Times Top 100 Lobbyists for 2021, Brad Lavigne has over 25 years of communications, government relations, and political experience.

Brad served as the New Democratic Party’s National Campaign Director in the 2011 general election that resulted in the party’s best election result in its 50-year history, becoming Canada’s Official Opposition for the first time.

 

Brad served as Principal Secretary and Director of Communications for the Hon. Jack Layton and as National Director and Director of Communications for the NDP. He is author of the bestselling book Building the Orange Wave: The Inside Story of the Historic Rise of Jack Layton and the NDP.

 

A seasoned government relations practitioner, Brad founded Forward Public Affairs in 2015, a government relations firm that served a diverse range of clients in Western Canada, which was acquired by Counsel Public Affairs in 2017. From November 2012 to May 2015 he was a GR consultant serving as Vice-President with a national public affairs company, working with clients from across Canada in a wide variety of sectors.

 

Between 1998 and 2001, Brad served as an advisor to two BC Premiers and served as Chief of Staff to the BC Minister of Finance and an Assistant to the BC Minister of Advanced Education, Training & Technology.

 

Brad is a weekly panelist on CBC News Network’s Power & Politics and appears in media across Canada as a political commentator.
