Indy Butany-DeSouza is the President and CEO of Elexicon Energy Inc., the fourth largest municipally-owed electricity distribution company in Ontario servicing approximately 171,000 customers in parts of Durham Region and beyond.  Indy is a thoughtful and strategist leader, who has shaped and evolved the regulatory framework in Ontario.  Indy has deep industry knowledge and an ability to foster strong relationships with industry partners, unions, regulators and all levels of government. Throughout her career, she has influenced industry consultations and led regulatory applications before the Ontario Energy Board (OEB) that have established precedent and influenced regulatory policy.

Prior to joining Elexicon, Indy served as Vice President, Regulatory Affairs and Privacy Officer at Alectra Utilities, where she successfully led the approval of the largest multi-utility merger and acquisition utility in Canada.

Indy is an active leader in the energy sector in Ontario.  She has chaired numerous industry committees, including: the Electricity Distributors Association (EDA), the Ontario Energy Association (OEA) and the Canadian Electricity Association (CEA).  In 2020, she was presented with the “Contributor of the Year Award” from the OEA.

Indy is committed to service to the community. She currently serves as a Member of the Board of Directors at Hamilton Health Sciences Corporation and Mainstage Theatre Company, a not-for-profit organization for youth musical theatre education.  Indy holds an MBA in Finance and an Honours Bachelor of Science in Psychology from McMaster University.
