President & CEO, Veridian CorporationMichael Angemeer is the President and CEO of Veridian Corporation, a progressive, community-owned energy company that provides electricity distribution and renewable energy services to more than 121,000 customers in nine municipalities across east central Ontario.
Through Mr. Angemeer’s leadership, Veridian has become known for innovation in merger and acquisition efficiencies, health and safety, sustainability, smart grid, economic development, community building and electric vehicles.
Veridian is the most efficient large utility in Ontario with non contiguous service territories from an OM&A cost per customer perspective. Veridian has been recognized as one of Canada’s Greenest Employers for eight consecutive years, was named Ontario’s top performing electric utility in 2017 by the Electricity Distributors Association (EDA), and has received numerous business excellence, environmental and community awards.
Mr. Angemeer was the founding Chair and President of the Durham Strategic Energy Alliance (DSEA), the founding past chair of the Spark Centre Regional Innovation Centre, and a past member of the Board of Governors of the University of Ontario Institute of Technology. He was Chair of the EDA’s Board of Directors in 2006, and has served on a number of task forces and committees in various capacities at the EDA, Ontario Energy Board and provincial government.
Mr. Angemeer is a respected leader in the energy industry — advocating positive change for the electricity system, utilities, customers and shareholders. His experience has spanned 31-plus years of business improvement in electrical distribution and transmission, and new business development at Veridian, Enersource and Ontario Hydro.
Mr. Angemeer has a Bachelor of Applied Science in Electrical Engineering with Management Science from the University of Waterloo, and received his Professional Engineering designation in 1988. He is a sought after speaker, having authored a number of publications and given several presentations to industry groups.
