Given the COVID-19 global pandemic, the OEA recognizes that the world has changed significantly, and that concerns about previous election commitments are not likely to be a priority for most Ontarians. We have significant new challenges ahead of us and as a society we need to shift our focus and efforts on those.
Most of the research the OEA undertook to prepare for the postponed event remains relevant for our current situation. Given that, Vince will present the findings of the research by the OEA and IFSD on the types of options that likely would have been available to the government to meet its election commitment to reduce rates by 12 percent. However, the research will be reframed to provide useful background for Ontarians to consider as we grapple with the question now before us: ELECTRICITY RATES: WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE?
