Teresa Sarkesian
President and Chief Executive Officer
Electricity Distributors Association
With 30 years of experience in policy development and advocacy, developed through positions in both the public and the private sectors, Teresa Sarkesian serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Electricity Distributors Association, the trusted and vital source for advocacy, insight and information for Ontario's local electricity distributors.
Teresa first joined the EDA in 2009 as Vice President, Government and Member Affairs. In this role, she spearheaded an industry response to sector review, achieved legislative change for greater scope expansion for local electric utility businesses, and facilitated greater flexibility in design and delivery of conservation initiatives by local utilities.
Teresa was appointed President and CEO of the EDA in 2016. Under her leadership, the Association has produced a vision paper and roadmap plan to allow LDCs to enable distributed energy resources to connect to the grid and to take a greater role as network operators. In 2018, the association launched its innovative Power of Local Hydro campaign, a government and public relations program designed to effectively position and promote the local hydro utilities that supply safe, reliable power to more than five million customers across the province.
Ms. Sarkesian holds a Master of Public Administration degree from Queen’s University, as well as a Master of Arts and Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto.
